How we rank software
Last updated
Every recommendation on SoftwareFits comes from the same published method. Your answers change the inputs, such as team size, budget and must-have features. They never change the rules.
What we score
| Criterion | What it means | Weight |
|---|---|---|
| Fit for your needs | Does it do the jobs you told us matter most, without workarounds? | 30% |
| True cost for your team | Monthly cost at your team size on the plan you would actually need, including required add-ons. | 25% |
| Ease of use | How quickly a non-technical team can get set up and productive. | 15% |
| Integrations | Works with the tools you already use. | 10% |
| Room to grow | Whether it still fits at 2–3× your team size, and what that costs. | 10% |
| Trust and support | Data security, uptime record, support quality and how easy it is to leave. | 10% |
When you tell us something is a must-have, tools without it are removed. They aren't just scored lower.
How we check prices
- We read the vendor's own pricing page and record the plan, price per user, billing period and required add-ons.
- Every price shows the date we checked it and links to its source.
- Prices older than 90 days are flagged for a recheck. If we can't verify a price, we don't show it.
What commissions do and don't change
Commissions decide whether a link is an affiliate link. They never decide a tool's score or position. If a tool we earn nothing from scores higher, it ranks higher.
Limits we're open about
- Scores are a guide, not a guarantee. Always try a free trial before committing.
- Vendors change plans often. If you see a mismatch, tell us and we'll fix it.
